Legacy Lives: Grace Furman Turns 100!

Legacy Village of Murrells Inlet celebrated the 100th birthday of one of their sweetest residents, Ms. Grace Furman, earlier this year. Having only joined Legacy Village in November 2023, Grace has been a wonderful addition to The Harbor memory care neighborhood. Although she can experience some difficulty in speaking, her gentleness and kindness shine through.

Grace was married to Henry and they raised their daughter in Amish country in Pennsylvania where they were close friends with other Amish families. Grace and a close friend made many quilts together and enjoyed spending time doing other crafts, including crochet. For a living, Grace did administrative work at a correctional facility.

Legacy Village and all the residents of The Harbor had a blast celebrating Grace’s milestone birthday! Family members and friends came with special gifts. Balloons and two cakes were served alongside a rousing rendition of the Happy Birthday song. It was a special day for a very special lady.

Edie Quitadamo’s story begins far from where she calls home today—she was born in Germany. But when she was just 11 years old, her family made a big move to the Bronx, New York, a place that would shape her spirit and her path in ways she could never have imagined.
